Lagoon cooking with the grill and vegetables from the islands, served in the Palazzo Venart with a garden on the Grand Canal.

A family-run fish trattoria in an alley of San Polo, serving Venetian classics from family recipes since 1983.
Antiche Carampane is tucked away in an alley of the sestiere of San Polo, a few minutes’ walk from the Rialto market. In 1983 Giovanni Battista Bortoluzzi, known as ‘Nani’, took over a simple osteria of this name; today his nephew Francesco Agopyan runs the restaurant. The team cooks from the recipes of Nani and his sister Piera. The interior is traditional, and some tables stand outdoors.
The menu follows what the Rialto market delivers. The classics include sarde in saor, baccalà mantecato, cuttlefish in its own ink with polenta and, in spring and autumn, fried moeche. There are also tagliolini with spider crab, a large mixed fried fish platter and daily dishes that are not on the menu. According to the Guide MICHELIN, the wine list of Italian and French references offers good value for money.
Good to know: Closed on Sunday and Monday. Book online via the website; free cancellation until noon on the day of the booking, after which the restaurant charges €35 per seat.
Lagoon, plain and foothills: in Venice fish and seafood dominate, often with spices dating from the days of the trade with the East, while on the mainland it is rice, polenta and radicchio. Typical are cicchetti, small bites served with a glass of wine in the bacari, the Venetian wine bars.
Typical wines: Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG, Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG, Soave Classico DOC
