A grocery with a trattoria on the western edge of the city: Florentine cooking, bistecca from the grill and wine evenings with sommelier Andrea Gori.
50 Top Italy 2026: no. 4 in the ‘Trattorie e Bistrò moderni’ category
Da Burde is on Via Pistoiese on the western edge of Florence, away from the tourist routes. At the front are a bar, a tobacconist and a grocery shop, behind them the trattoria, which according to the Guide MICHELIN has more than 125 years of history. Today the brothers Andrea and Paolo Gori run the business. Andrea is a sommelier who compiles the wine list and hosts tasting dinners on Friday evenings, for example on individual communes of Chianti Classico.
What comes to the table is Florentine cooking without detours: crostini, cured meats and cheese from the display counter as antipasto, then soups and home-made pasta, braised and grilled meat, above all the bistecca alla fiorentina. The Guide MICHELIN calls the wine list extensive and well structured. In the ‘Trattorie e Bistrò moderni’ category of 50 Top Italy 2026, Da Burde is in fourth place. It is above all a lunchtime destination, as it opens in the evening only on Fridays.
Good to know: Open Monday to Saturday for lunch, in the evening only on Fridays; closed on Sundays. Booking recommended.
A cuisine of simplicity and produce: unsalted bread, beans, olive oil, meat from the charcoal grill and game in autumn. Many classics come from cucina povera, the cooking of ordinary people, and today stand alongside great red wines made from Sangiovese.
Typical wines: Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, Chianti Classico DOCG, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG
